Ihobe to present the Basque Country’s experience in ecoinnovation to European environmental agencies
Ander ElorriagaAnder Elgorriaga, an expert in ecoinnovation and the circular economy at Ihobe, will explain the actions driven in the Basque Country during the “Systemic approaches towards sustainability transitions: Circular Economy as a transversal need”.

The session is aimed at researchers, policy managers and other stakeholders interested in sustainability systemic transitions. Its goals are to assess options to improve R&I in Europe, point out R&I needs to facilitate the transition to sustainability, identify the most promising strategies to achieve systemic changes and progresses, along with seeking to improve the policy/science/research interface to create applicable systemic expertise.

Aspects such as climate change, energy transition, industry decarbonisation, resilient soil, and cleaner water and air require a comprehensive solution

The European Commission’s DG Research and Innovation, the Days’ organiser, is seeking a global and systemic approach for the transformation to sustainability. The European Green Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals call for a far-reaching transformation of all our society, economic, consumption and production systems. 

Along with Asier Elgorriaga (Ihobe), Eeva Primmer, SYKE Research Director (Finnish Environment Institute); Jean-Eric Paquet, Director-General of DG Research and Innovation - European Commission; Hans Bruyninckx, Executive Director – European Environment Agency; Hans Mommaas, Director-General, PBL (Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency); Henriette Spyra, Director Science & Innovation at Environment Agency Austria; Dominique Darmendrail, BRGM (French Geological Survey); Jakub Mazur, First Deputy Mayor of Wroclaw (Poland); Frans Van Houten, CEO of Philips (Netherlands); and Frank Elderson, member of the Executive Board of the ECB, will take part in the panel.
