The environmental centres in the Basque Government’s Ekoetxea network will open their doors again this weekend

The environmental centres in the Basque Government’s Ekoetxea network will open their doors again this weekend
Following permission to re-engage in cultural and leisure activities in the Basque Country, the environmental centres in the Ekoetxea network will open their doors again tomorrow, Friday 5th June, coinciding with World Environment Day. Excepting the Azpeitia centre, which will remain closed for the time being, the Urdaibai, Txingudi and Meatzaldea-Peñas Negras Ekoetxeas have put together a varied programme of activities enabling visitors to enjoy the natural spaces where these facilities are located. The centres are run by the public body Ihobe, which is part of the Department for Environment of the Basque Government.

The reopening will take place with strict controls over safety, hygiene and visitor numbers. The programme of activities has been designed for the outdoors. Indoor exhibition spaces will be open too, albeit with their maximum occupancy reduced by half. Interactive features which may enable virus transmission, such as screens, headphones and binoculars, will be out of use.

Find out more about the activities through the Ekoetxea network’s social media channels and the website www.ekoetxea.eus.
