Ihobe, awarded Sustainability Action 23 for its promotion of the circular economy and urban regeneration

The awards for the best Sustainability Actions 23, granted by CompromisoRSE, aim to highlight the initiatives carried out in the field of sustainability, environment and social inclusion by companies, foundations, academic institutions and administrations throughout 2023

The award was collected by Jaione Lanborena, Corporate Director of Ihobe, within the framework of Sustainability Day 23 -a day organised by CompromisoRSE devoted to sharing the most inspiring actions in the field of sustainability-, which was held in the auditoriums of the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid. This is an award that recognises and values the environmental and social impact of different actions and initiatives carried out by all types of organisations (companies, start-ups, foundations, NGOs, public administrations, and academic and educational institutions).

Ihobe believes that the transition towards a more circular economy can offer great opportunities for the Basque Country, its companies and its citizens. It aims to ensure that circularity can contribute to economic benefits for companies and increase their competitiveness through energy savings and greenhouse gas emission reductions, whilst facilitating local job creation and new opportunities for social inclusion. As for work on urban regeneration, projects such as Life Urban Klima 2050, the largest climate action project in the Basque Country, or the initiatives that have arisen in Udalsarea 2030, the Basque Network of Sustainable Municipalities, are good examples of this.

The Sustainability Actions 23 awards recognise and highlight initiatives and projects carried out throughout 2023 in the field of sustainability, the environment and social inclusion. In order to reward the country's main stakeholders, the awards are divided into six categories: Public Administration, Training and Educational Centres, NGOs and Foundations, Organisations, Start-ups and Companies.
